FAQ I received a traffic ticket, what do I do? Answer: × On the right side of the ticket there are two sections. Section A Plea of Guilty and Section B Plea of Not Guilty. You MUST PLEAD either guilty or not guilty and send it to the Court. You may mail the ticket, drop it off, or fax it to us. Nothing can be done until the Court receives your plea. How much is the fine? Answer: × If you plead guilty, the fine is set by a Village Justice according to New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. There is no set amount and Court administrators will not be able to tell you what it will be. I see a Court date on my ticket. Is that when I come to Court? Answer: × NO. The date on the lower left hand side of the ticket is when the Court needs your plea by. If you haven’t received a notice from the Court, you will not be on the Calendar and you will not be seen. I would like to pay over the phone or online. How do I do this? Answer: × The Court can only receive payment in person or through the mail. We do not take credit card information over the phone. In person, you may pay with cash (bring the exact amount), cashier’s check, money order, or MAJOR credit card (MasterCard or Visa-NOT linked to your personal bank account). Please note, there is a mandatory 3% fee with every credit card payment. By mail we only accept money order or cashier’s check. DO NOT MAIL CASH. I can’t pay. I would like a payment plan. What do I do? Answer: × This Court doesn’t have payment plans or accept partial payment. If you are unable to pay, notify the Court in writing. You will be sent a Court date to appear and explain your situation. I can’t make it to the Court date. What do I do? Answer: × If you have not previously asked to be excused from a given Court date, simply notify the Court in writing that you can’t make the date in question and request a new one. Do not request a specific date as we can’t accommodate every person’s schedule. I sent in my plea or payment, where is my notification that you got it? Answer: × The Court doesn’t send out notifications of receipt. If you would like notification that your plea was received, please send it certified mail. If you would like a receipt for payment, include a SASE and we will send it.
